| The Academic Transactional License Option (ATLO) is a
program of discounts for volume purchasing of Macromedia software,
upgrades, subscriptions, technical support, and training sold to
colleges, universities, and K–12 school districts in the U.S. and
Canada. This program offers significant discounts on all Macromedia
products. Each Macromedia product is given a point value. The total
number of points of your initial order determines the discount you
receive: the greater the size of the order, the greater the discount
level. The ATLO is one of three volume-license offerings available to
education customers as part of the Macromedia Volume License Program. |
|
 |
|
If the following key elements
apply to your institution, the ATLO may be a good fit for your
software needs: |
|
|
|
· |
You've been
purchasing boxed versions of Macromedia products and you want a
better price on your Macromedia product purchases |
|
· |
You want a volume-license program
that offers a variety of discount levels based on the size of your
individual purchase |
|
· |
You need a program that has a low
minimum-order requirement |
|
· |
You plan to purchase any mix of
at least two to five licenses of one (or a selection of) Macromedia
products at any one time |
|
· |
You want a volume-purchase
program that allows you to pay as you go, and doesn’t require a
contract |
|
· |
Your institution would benefit
from a subscription program that keeps your software current and
updated for two years |
|
· |
You want a program with a minimum
order requirement so low that individual buildings in your
institution can order without having to centralize purchases |
|
· |
You want the option of
centralizing your purchases and increasing your order size to
benefit from greater discounts |
|
· |
You want CDs and documentation to
ship automatically with your volume-license order |
 |
|
· |
Low minimum order requirement of
10 points—that’s as few as 2 to 5 software products, depending on
their individual point values |
| · |
Significant discounts available on Macromedia
products |
| · |
Five discount levels |
| · |
ATLO is a transactional program: there’s no
contract required |
| · |
Allows mixing and matching of products and
platforms |
| · |
Includes software, upgrades, subscriptions,
technical support, and training |
| · |
One CD set and one set of documentation
included per order at no additional cost |
 |
| The ATLO is a point-based system. Each
Macromedia product is given a point value. The discount level is
calculated by adding the total number of points of your order. |

 |
| The ATLO has five point-based discount levels.
The amount of discount increases with each program level. For
example, Level C offers greater discounts than Level B. Level B
offers a greater discount than Level A. The following point breaks
have been established for each program level: |
| |
|
Program Level |
Point Breaks |
|
A |
10 to 99 points |
|
B |
100 to 199 points |
|
C |
200 to 499 points |
|
D |
500 to 999 points |
|
E |
1,000+ points |
 |
| A low, 10-point minimum is required for each
ATLO order. This equals two to five software products, depending on
their individual point values. |
 |
| All Macromedia software products—as well as
upgrades, subscriptions, technical support, and training—are
available through the ATLO. Contact your ETG sales representative for a complete list of products and prices,
or to obtain a price quote. |

|
A Macromedia
Software Subscription entitles education customers to version
upgrades (for example, from version 4.0 to 5.0), updates (for
example, from version 5.1 to 5.3), and bug fixes during the active
subscription period. The Subscription coverage period for education
customers is two years. |
|
|
|
· |
Subscription coverage
begins with the product-purchase date and expires on the last day of
the month after the two-year anniversary date. |
|
· |
Though the purchase of a Subscription is optional, if you do
purchase a Subscription, you must purchase it with the license at
the time of sale. |
|
· |
Customers who purchase Subscriptions will be asked to cover future
license purchases within a product family. |
|
· |
You
can purchase subscription renewals up to three months prior to the
Subscription expiration date. |
|
 |
 |
| We’re committed to providing the
highest-quality technical support. Support plans are available for
all types of users, from novice to advanced. Both free and fee-based
support options are available.
Bronze,
Silver, and Gold
level Support Programs are available for purchase through the ALTO. |
 |
|
One of the primary benefits of
purchasing through the ATLO is that as an education customer, you’ll
receive the right mix of media. For example, a customer initially
ordering 100 licenses of Macromedia Dreamweaver will automatically
receive the following: |
|
|
|
· |
The MVLP License
Certificate, which includes a unique program membership number, a
right-to-copy license in accordance with the license purchase, and
one multi-user serial number per product family and platform |
| · |
Macromedia End User License
Agreement as appropriate for both software and technical support
purchases |
| · |
One CD and one set of
documentation at no additional charge (Customers may purchase
additional CDs or documentation. These may be ordered separately for
a nominal fee at quantities not to exceed the number of licenses
purchased) |
Note: Because the ATLO is, by definition, a
transactional licensing program, ATLO customers will receive a new
program membership number each and every time they order. |
 |
| A variety of professional development courses
are available for purchase from the
Macromedia
eLearning Center and
Macromedia
University. We also offer free introductory training on using
and teaching with Macromedia tools at
Training
Cafe, a free online site sponsored by Macromedia. Training Cafe
courses include Macromedia Fundamentals, How to Build a Course
Website, and Introduction to Web Accessibility. In addition,
Training Cafe supports the International Society for Technology
Education (ISTE) National Education Technology Standards for
Teachers. Professional-development online courses purchased from
both the Macromedia eLearning Center and Macromedia University also
earn points and contribute toward your ATLO purchase level. |
 |
| Curriculum materials will be available from Macromedia
in September 2002. |
 |
| Education customers may purchase software
through the ATLO from Educational Technology Group by calling
713.688.4044 or
email All end-user information must be included
on the purchase order submitted to Macromedia. In most cases, we’ll
ship ATLO orders directly to end users and send shipping details to
the distributor. Shipping Methods
All ATLO orders are shipped from our warehouses using a two-day
service (such as Federal Express second-day service) or an
international equivalent. Shipping charge will be added to your
invoice.
Returns
For all ATLO orders, we honor the warranty of the Macromedia End
User License Agreement. Otherwise, we do not accept returns for ATLO
orders. The only exceptions to this no-return policy are
order-entry, platform, and product-mix errors rectified within 30
days.
